Davis' first hair cut!

Davis has the best hair. It is this amazing strawberry blonde color (with an emphasis on the strawberry), and it is naturally curly. The only trouble is, he doesn't have tons of it, so I was letting it grow for a while. Finally a few weeks ago, I couldn't take it anymore, and I decided I had to cut it. It was getting so long that it was hit or miss on any given day whether it would look really cute or just long, unstyled, and girly. I don't know what I was thinking, but one day when Davis was sitting in the tub, I decided to get out the scissors and chop away. After the first chop, I almost panicked and realized that I have no idea how to cut hair... but I just dove right in and kept going until it was done, and I think it turned out okay. Luckily the curls are very forgiving, so even with a less than perfect cut, he still looks adorable. Bryson and I both think he looks older with the new shorter locks.

Cheese!

Oooh! I think all the ladies will love my new look!

Davis, Davis, Davis

I just wanted to post some of his recent moments. He just keeps getting cuter.

Davis LOVES his cousins. He is always his happiest cutest self when he is with them... if only he had his other cousins out here too!

Best Buds

I love this face!

He's a dancing machine!

Easter

I know I'm a week behind, but I thought I'd post an Easter re-cap. Each holiday is getting more fun this year as Davis is getting old enough to enjoy them and participate in the festivities. He got a little spoiled, getting an Easter basket from mom and dad as well as one from grandma and grandpa. He also had two easter egg hunts. He found all of his eggs and never got bored of discovering that they were filled with m&m's. Apparently, Davis is just like his mom and finds chocolate to be a powerful motivator.

Davis helped decorate the Easter cookies. He loved the sprinkles.

My cookies... not my best efforts, but not bad considering I had Davis on my lap for half of them

Davis was pretty happy Easter morning to see what the bunny brought him

My cute little guy after church

This was Bryson's idea... apparently it's not Easter unless you have a chocolate bunny that's atleast half your size

Fablehaven 4 Launch Party

Last night was the launch party for Fablehaven 4 Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary. That is my brother in law's latest book, and it is his best so far! For any of you who haven't read his books, I recommend you get started, and for those of you who are caught up, go get book 4 this week! Brandon has made the New York Times Best Sellers list for the past few years, and we want him to get on there again.
The launch party was a huge success... once again, they completely filled the auditorium, which seats around 3,000 people. Bryson got to perform with his old Divine Comedy group, and they were a huge hit. They also had ballerinas from the U of U perform as fairies from Fablehaven, and a kids singing group performed as well. There were a ton of screaming kids (happy screams), especially when Brandon finally came on stage. It was so funny... the way the audience reacted when he came out, you would have thought he was some famous rock star. After the show, Brandon signed an insane number of books while everyone else played games and took pictures with some of the characters from Fablehaven. It was a fun night, and especially fun to see Brandon's success in such a tangible way and to meet his enthusiastic fans.
I didn't take any pictures of the actual show because I was too busy watching and trying to keep Davis from running down the isles, but I took some pictures after.

Well, I hopped on Summer's facebook page and took some of her pictures from the party/show. She had a friend taking pictures while they performed, so now you get to see some pictures from the divine comedy part of the show and from Brandon's time on stage. I also got a few from some lady that was there with a pretty good camera. :-) Enjoy.

Future Rock Star?

I've been watching American Idol lately, and I think Davis has got the bug. The music bug. He's a smart little guy, and I think he realized that it doesn't maatter how good your voice is if you don't have stage presence... well, he's been working on that at home. I think we have a little rock star in the making here.
Step one: the piano skills

Step two: the moves
Davis had a little dance party with his cousins out on the deck at grandma and grandpa's house the other day. It was so cute. A crazy little dancing skeleton was singing "livin la vida loca" and the kids were eating it up. All I can say is, Watch out Ladies, Davis has got some serious moves!

Step three: mastering the drums. We think he's on his way to super stardom ;-)

MUMBO!!!!

I have been such a bad blogger lately, I'm not even going to try to catch up for the past few months... I'll just jump right in with our latest adventures. For Christmas, Bryson and I got two Southern California City passes from his work. These passes include 3-day park hopper tickets to Disneyland and California adventure, and one day each to Universal Studios, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park. We decided to use those passes last week, and it was a blast! I didn't think Davis would enjoy it as much as he did, but he LOVED it! After the first day at Disneyland, he woke up every morning screaming in excitement, "MUMBO!" or "UMBO!!!"... which is Davis talk for Dumbo. I think we went on the ride 15 times over the three days. He also loved the new and improved Small World, which we think we went on 8 to 10 times... that was about 1 time short of enough to make me lose my mind. We basically went on just about every ride in both parks, ate our weight in churros, and enjoyed the lovely southern california weather (aside from two rainy mornings, it was perfect). We even got to sneak in a little family time- my mom and John-kai joined us for one day at the happiest place on earth, and we got to see my dad, jane and the kids on the way there and back.
While we were there, waiting in lines to go on rides, we kept telling Davis that he would get to go "on it" soon, and he quickly learned to say "on it" when he wanted to go on a ride. The only problem was that he didn't understand that not all things were rides. He told us he wanted to go on Shamu, the dolphin tank, the gorillas, lions, etc, etc. I'm sure some day he'll forgive us for not letting him go on those rides.
The sad thing is, now that we're back, he stills yells "MUMBO!" in excitement a few times every day, followed by a "YAY!" or "AHOO!" (woo hoo)... I feel so badly that I can't take him "on it."
Warning: longest slideshow ever... Ryan, you don't have to look at all the pictures!
