Happy Birthday Davis!

I can't believe my little baby is one!!! It is so crazy how fast these little munchkins grow up! Well, it is over a week since his actual birthday, but I've been busy, and I had a friend in town, so this is the first chance I've had to update the blog. I still don't have all of the birthday pictures, but I'll put up a few of the highlights.
Davis had a very fun birthday that included playing with Kobe, swimming, a trip to the animal farm/petting zoo, and hanging out with mom and dad. He was in a very good mood all day, so I think he knew something special was going on. We had his party the next day, and the highlight for me was watching him eat his cake. It was pretty awesome! I think I was more excited than he was about all of his presents (at least the new clothes), but he got pretty excited about a few of his new toys.

Good Morning!

Getting back from the pool

At the animal farm... this is one of my favorite faces that he's been doing lately. He scrunches his nose and shows his top teeth... so goofy, but adorable!

Getting a little love from the cows... my mother-in-law will probably pass out when she sees that I let an animal lick my son, but his hands were washed immediately and thoroughly.

I went a little overboard on the baking for the party. This shot is of the homemade carrot cake and the triple chocolate cupcakes (with chocolate chips inside and a chocolate glaze for frosting)... Davis got his own cake... scroll down for that one.

Getting ready for the party to start

Davis' cake

starting carefully... just a finger in the frosting

getting into it

Really going for it... by this point, he had grabbed the top layer with both hands and shoved it into his face

Attack! He just dove right in and was splashing cake around like water!

The aftermath

Davis playing with his favorite present of the night... the drum set. He is a natural.

4th of July

Better late than never, right? We were up in Park City with the MacDonald clan this year for the 4th of July, and we had a blast. The weather was perfect, the company was great, and the food was delicious. We packed a lot of fun stuff into one short weekend- parade, fireworks, hiking, shopping, river rafting, alpine slide/roller coaster, and a lot of eating/relaxing with the family. I even made time to destroy my cell phone (left it in the boat during our rafting trip)... oops.

I was a little too excited about finding these matching shirts for Bryson and Davis, but they looked so cute in them together. Not the best shot, but I had to include this one because the guy in the background cracked me up. Looks like he's posing for the camera... showing a little leg

Quite possibly my favorite shot from the trip. Crystal might kill me for posting it, but Ryan will probably try to print it off and frame it. Love it. There is a whole series of these that are pretty awesome together. This is the result of me telling them to kiss for a shot and Ryan informing me that the only kisses he does for the camera are REAL ones.... so, unfortunately, this image is now permanently etched into my mind. good times.

The girls... apparently we have a fondness for matching in our family

The guys... Ryan was in a very special mood that day

The whole gang... though we were missing John-kai and Meg

Recent pictures

I have been a few weeks behind with this blog all summer, so I'm going to keep it that way. I haven't downloaded our 4th of July pictures yet, so I thought I'd post a few pictures from the last few weeks instead. Enjoy!

My sister is FABULOUS!

I am lucky to have some pretty amazing sisters. Both my older and younger sisters are the BEST, and I love all of my sister in laws to death. However, the focus of today's blog is on the first of these wonderful women to come into my life- Crystal. She is pretty much wonder woman. Any of you who know her can attest to that. She excels at everything she does... or even tries. From school to careers, athletics, crafts, cooking, parenting... you name it, she does it, and she does it a little too well. I have always looked up to her in just about every way and feel very blessed to get to have her as my big sister. I think her only flaw is living all the way across the country from me so that I don't get to spend enough time with her. Even being so far away, she does not forget the needs of her poor, lonely sister in Utah... the most important of those needs being Fashion, of course. Lately I have received a few packages of clothes or accessories that she didn't seem to need anymore, and I wanted to say THANKS! The last package included a few cute purses and these adorable yellow and white polka dot shoes. They added a little spice to this old black dress. So, thanks again, Crystal, YOU ARE FABULOUS and I love you tons!
